The lantern that leaked moonlight

On the gallery of a derelict lighthouse, the keeper hung a brass lantern whose glass bore a hairline crack. At midnight a thin sheet of pale light slipped out and lay on the floorboards like spilled milk. He never admitted the lantern was broken. He said the moon had learned a shortcut.
